President of the Macedonian Assembly, Talat Xhaferi, confirmed yesterday that a proposal arrived from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for highly controversial figure and SDSM ideolog Ljubomir Frckovski to be Macedonia’s Ambassador to the UN in the United States.
Frckovski is notoriously known for his alleged involvement in the assassination attempt of former President Kiro Gligorov, domestic violence troubles and assaulting opposing party members, amongst other things.
After a campaign launched against him by the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) Frckovski was rejected as the country’s ambassador to the US, an appointment in New York would be a consolation prize for Frckoski.
UMD President Meto Koloski attacked the move highlighting part of Frcoski’s past to US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield in a Twitter post.
