The Macedonian team heads into the Euro 2020 Championship in high spirits after a 4:0 trouncing over Kazakhstan tonight in Skopje.
The Macedonian squad dominated the friendly game in a lead up to the Euros, where it will face teams of much higher calibre such as Austria, Holland and Ukraine.
Alioski, Tričkovski, Ristovski and Churlinov all scored for the home side, with coach Igor Angelovski stating, “The purpose of these two matches was to try team and tactical variants, but also for everyone to get minutes. It proved to be successful in both matches, I thank the fans above all, it is good that we greeted them with such a victory. But we do not need euphoria, let Macedonia live that euphoria, and we must stand firmly on our feet.”
The team has now firmly shaken off any distraction caused by the new jersey design controversy and will head into the Euros with strong self belief.
Macedonia faces Austria on June 14 in Bucharest, Romania.
