Bug in Bulgarian software blamed as Macedonia Census is paused then resumed

Yesterday and today, sporadic software problems have halted the Macedonian census in several areas. Periodically and in certain locations the census software did not work and a number of enumerators could not do their job, according to the State Statistical Office.

While initially blaming an internet connection yesterday, the head of the State Statistical Office Apostol Simovski put the blame on a software bug.

Technical teams are working to eliminate the problem and it’s expected the census to resume in the affected areas, according to the State Statistical Office.

The highly controversial census is being boycotted by some opposition parties in Macedonia and the majority of the Macedonian diaspora.
