Macedonia enforces new covid entry requirements

From today, the 1st of September entry into Macedonia is only allowed with a negative PCR test taken up to 72 hours prior, a vaccination certificate, or a document proving a COVID-19 infection in the last 45 days.

The measures were announced by Health Minister Venko Filipce a fortnight ago and based on the recommendations from the Commission for Infectious Diseases.

Macedonian citizens returning to the country that do not meet the new covid entry requirements will be required to self-isolate for 10 days.

Foreign nationals transiting through Macedonia are given five hours to do so, requiring a pre-signed declaration that must be submitted to border controls when leaving the country.

Macedonia is in the midst of a third covid wave seeing daily infection rates around the 800 mark with daily deaths of over 20 people.
